I have been slowly stashing what used to be one pound cans of coffee, now 11.5 ounces, and the price didn't drop either.

I was at Kroger over the weekend and overheard a clerk in the meat section showing a young girl the new whole chickens they were getting in. It was kroger brand, but just in fancier packaging. And she showed her right next to them the old birds.. She said, you better get them while you can..

They left and I went over to look at the new packaging and looked at the price.. EIGHT DOLLARS!!!

I looked at the old package and it was 3.40.... I bought all 8 of the cheap ones that were left.. I still had 2or 3 in the freezer and I looked at the price(purchased in late 2010 early 2011 and it was 3.60....

They are raising the price of this product almost 3 times from just a year ago.

Robert

P.S. I Go by the Little Debbie inflation calculator.... For years the Little Debbie snack cakes were 99 cents or less. It said so right on the box...

Since 2009, the price of little debbies has gone from 99 cents to 1.50 or more now... That is pretty spot on to the real inflation that has ravaged this country at the most basic level since the crash...

Sure IPODS and cars and houses are going down in price.. but the things you really need are skyrocketing.

The up side of having to retire early, (because the lack of "job creator" interest in me and my 30+ years of IT experience), is that I have lots of time to garden, cook, can, freeze food, etc.

Recently I made my own ham sandwich meat for 99 cents a pound, homemade roast beef for about 3 bucks a pound.  Homemade pecan sandies from scratch with pecans that were given to me.  Homemade winters squash lasagna.  Homemade bread, pickled beets, and red cabbage, orange marmalade, spaghetti sauce,  and I could go on and on...

So where ever possible I say f*&k em, and make and grow as much of the stuff myself as possible.

Pretty soon, the price of actual little Debby's will be 99 cents...

and I can't believe Ches didn't say that before I did.
