Welcome to HA  :) How did you find us after all this time?

Been bouncing around different PO web sites, saw this one mentioned.  Spent a year in a hot and hostile place.  Getting re-acquainted with the Doom world.  You want to see what collapse looks like up close and personal?  Spend a year in the 'Stan.'

The 'Stan'...are you talking about Afghanistan??

OH and welcome to the forum. I shortened my name from LATOC. I was Abhaha.

Did you have a different name over there? I like it when people generally retain their LATOC names as it helps out the map in my brain...if you know what I mean. I may even remember their posts from the "old days."

Welcome aboard - were you a member at LATOC?

G'day Wilderness Scout.. welcome aboard! 8)

What happens in disasters demonstrates everything an anarchist ever wanted to believe about the triumph of civil society and the failure of institutional authority. ~ Rebecca Solnit 'A Paradise Built in Hell'

I don't vote. Because I believe if you vote, you have no right to complain.
Yeah, people like to twist that around, I know.. they say "Well, if you don't vote, you have no right to complain." But where's the logic in that? If you vote, and you elect dishonest, incompetent people, and they get into office and screw everything up, well, you are responsible for what they have done. You caused the problem, you voted them in, you have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote, who, in fact, did not even leave the house on election day, am in no way responsible for what these people have done, and have every right to complain as loud as I want about the mess you created that I had nothing to with. ~ George Carlin

The corporate state, in theological terms, is about unchecked exploitation and death. And if the corporate state is not vanquished, and vanquished soon, the human species will not survive. ~ Chris Hedges

People who pretend to forget history are doomed to invent it. ~ Gromit

Welcome WS - I seem to remember someone at LATOC saying they were off to Afghanistan - I'm guessing that was you - glad you made it back intact!

I remember when I got back from that part of the planet, I bored anyone that would listen, including the poor taxi driver from the airport, enthusing about the greeness of these parts.

Welcome home, 'Scout. :)

Welcome and glad to hear you got home safe from the frontiers of the Empire...
Greetings from the Humungous,

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior: coming soon to YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD!

The carpenter had made a bench whose parts fit so well that it didn't need any nails to hold it together. It was so precisely made, and so in tune with the materials that made it, that it held itself together without aid. I saw this as an enlightening symbol of the true nature of the Vietnamese people, so I stole the bench...I walked over to my helicopter and put the bench in the shade of the rotor, sat down, and said, "Look, no nails." I shifted back and forth to put strain on the bench to show that it did not move. Kaiser came over to see.

"See, they put this together so well it doesn't need nails," I said.

"That's because they have to. Dumb gooks don't know how to make nails," said Kaiser.
