Old LATOCer signing on
« on: July 17, 2012, 06:31:52 PM »
Howdy ya'll!

I doubt you recall me as my paranoia keeps my username in constant flux but I remember you guys.

Glad to see the forum survive and looking forward to the types of discussions that can only be had here.

And thank god we were all wrong about the doom and gloom we've been discussing for 7 years now, hopefully this next batch of bad news will blow over too!

Yup, I think I recall the handle.

Welcome aboard.
Memo from intellect to instinct - dear instinct, you took a wrong turn all those millennia ago and look where we are now. Reply from instinct to intellect - please bear in mind I was here before you were. I'm bowing out and it's your turn now. Best of luck.

Welcome. I hope the "green shoots" last as long as they can....gives me time to reload more ammo and watch Game Of Thrones with my kids - it's a pretty comprehensive education for their future.

I've given up on waiting for other people to get it.  Now, I'm waiting for it to get them.

G'day, and welcome home! 8)
We got further smashing windows than we ever got letting them smash our heads.

What happens in disasters demonstrates everything an anarchist ever wanted to believe about the triumph of civil society and the failure of institutional authority. ~ Rebecca Solnit 'A Paradise Built in Hell'

I don't vote. Because I believe if you vote, you have no right to complain.
Yeah, people like to twist that around, I know.. they say "Well, if you don't vote, you have no right to complain." But where's the logic in that? If you vote, and you elect dishonest, incompetent people, and they get into office and screw everything up, well, you are responsible for what they have done. You caused the problem, you voted them in, you have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote, who, in fact, did not even leave the house on election day, am in no way responsible for what these people have done, and have every right to complain as loud as I want about the mess you created that I had nothing to with. ~ George Carlin

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Nope, not MooreTime although I do recall that name.

I was EnergyHog prior to this name.

For the most part I stuck to the financial forums and arguing with Robert about economics.

I'll still engage in the occassional economics battle but it's just kicking a dead horse at this point so I hope to stick more to contributing what I have learned about creating extremely fertile soil out of garbage (I had just started to share this when LATOC went down), growing Shiitake mushrooms, making wine and vinegar ...the more hands-on activities.

Learning about climate change on top of peak oil shifted my priorities from "how do I invest my resources for the future" to "which insects should I eat?"

I want the cockroaches to expire before my DNA.  ;)

I look forward to seeing you all around!

Damn, couldn't you have picked a slightly easier one, like reversing climate change, zero point energy or teleporters?  ;D

Robert has had quite a change of perspective recently, regarding economics..  >:D

You may be able to have some interesting new discussions.. ;)
